REPAIRER SPOTLIGHT: CGS Bodyworks Ltd.

CGS Bodyworks Ltd was established in 2011 following the merger of two successful local companies - combining to create a one-stop-shop for all customer types. This was the blend of Horwich Bodywork Services and MSS Auto Services.

Horwich Bodyworks was principally a paintwork and body repair shop whilst MSS Auto Services were a long time establish auto-electrician retro fit specialists. Between them they had an array of clients in the general public sector but more importantly with large fleet owners, dealers and body builders in the North-West.

Directors at the helm, Chris Crompton and Gary Smith, saw the combining of their businesses as a way to stabilise and grow the joint business on their individual skill sets which, now as one, offers a greater variety of benefits to all clients.

Gary states, “Realising that our customers would benefit from a company that could carry out body repairs and re-sprays, and any required electrical work in one location, CGS Commercials Ltd was born. In 2015 this became CGS Bodyworks Ltd.”

Sited in their purpose built workshop in Adlington, Lancashire, CGS accommodate both domestic and commercial vehicles and to further their business they applied for, and attained, PPG Industries FLEETWATCH® status in 2015. Chris Crompton adds, “The appointment of FleetWatch enables us to market the quality of our work to the local areas and also warrant our work in line with specifications drawn by PPG for some joint customers. This means that everyone has the peace-of-mind that the work completed achieves a minimum but high standard.”

As time had developed during the short time affiliated to FleetWatch, on-site training has been the driver of quality improvement working closely with PPG technicians to ensure that they have the right knowledge of the materials and the best practise in application,  Gary continues, “in listening to the PPG technical team we have improved the training within the business and also made specific equipment investments as we want to become more efficient and improve every way we can to become the best we can”. 2017 is looking to be another exciting year for this relatively young business but they strive ahead always looking for improvements so keep your eyes peeled for more developments over the course of this year.
