To consistently hold the market leader status and to maintain control on all elements of the build programme Thompson UK’s Lancashire plant, located in Blackburn, has now invested in a self-sufficient painting operation.
The Blackburn site has installed a blast preparation plant, as well as a commercial spray booth with fully operational baking facilities. This impressive set up allows for a quick response to any client specifications in regards their livery. This investment also enables the business to control the process and quality from build through to finish.
PPG has been key in supporting the Thompson group when selecting equipment, business development and providing the paint materials. Simon Shields, Managing Director, enlisted the expertise of PPG’s technical team to fully understand the paint requirements versus his vision for the company.
“We held a number of on-site meetings with the PPG team to make sure that we were aware of all aspects of vehicle preparation and painting. This level of support helped us to make the best choice of equipment for our specific needs and I am excited to say we now have the facility up and running.” explained Simon.
Thompson UK also incorporates Charlton Bodies Ltd, based in Dover. PPG are the main paint supplier to the manufacturing plant, therefore it was a natural step to install PPG paint materials into the Blackburn facility. The company has installed a purpose built mixing room that contains a PPG DELFLEET® scheme and all the necessary support equipment for the plant to run efficiently.
The BROWN BROTHERS® Distribution team at Warrington provide the product and consumables to Thompson UK Blackburn making the management for Thompsons simple, easy and cost effective.
Simon added; “The support from the Brown Brothers team has been excellent as they assist in the stock control and monitoring of product use. This allows our team of professional painters to concentrate on what they do well, and that’s the painting”
